Data Privacy for Location-Based Offers
Enabling Large Scale Adoption For A System App
This project focused on redesigning the opt-in experience for a pre-installed Android system service used by 80M+ users for its launch in a data privacy-sensitive market. The service delivered location-based retail offers to its smartphone owners. I led the UX redesign to create a clearer consent flow, stronger privacy communication, and persistent control options. The final experience balanced legal compliance, business goals, and user trust within system-level engineering constraints.

Reflection: If a feature takes away control, people assume the worst.Make the system visible. Give control to the users upfront. That shift of perception changes everything. What felt intrusive starts to feel useful.
